How to point your MX record to Google

Before you start:
We assume you already completed the first step - Domain verification. If not, please refer to our other help docs on this topic.
If you want to add the second custom domain to your Google Workspace

1. Sign in to your Domain Host (GoDaddy, Hostgator, bluehost, NameCheap, Cloudflare and etc) 

2. Locate DNS Settings: Find the DNS management page, often labeled "DNS Records," "Name Server Management," or "Advanced DNS".

3. If there is any existing MX Record, delete all existing MX Records to prevent email routing conflicts. 

4. Add Google MX Records: Create a new record with these values:
Type: MX
Host/Name: @ (or leave blank)
Value/Destination: smtp.google.com
Priority: 1
TTL: Default (or 3600)

5. Save Changes: Save the new record.

6. Go and verify your MX record with one of the MX record lookup tools. Google MX record lookup tool https://toolbox.googleapps.com/apps/checkmx/


7. After confirming your MX record updated correctly on MX record lookup tools, Go to the Google Admin Console https://admin.google.com with your admin user account, go to Menu > Account > Domains > Manage Domains and click Activate Gmail.
